~The Weekend, Peonies & Italian Dishes~
I was wandering through the city yesterday to shop for some new ankle boots. Couldn't find a pair that I like. So to get rid of the busy crowed and too loud music coming from the shops I remembered I had that gift card in my purse to spend it in the book shop. I find it always a pleasure to walk in to a book shop, the tranquil atmosphere is like soft balm on your skin. Anyway, I had my eye on a new cook book and it has to be something Italian.
La Cucina d'Abruzzo - the warmth of Italy, the style of the city. A story about Giancarlo Acciavatti & Gemma Mirabilio. Also the owners of traiteur Mondo Mediterraneo in Amsterdam. The taste of pure classic dishes, olive oil from Gemma's olive grove and home made tomato sauce. They bundle the tasteful recipes in this beautiful book. Lovely to read is the interesting background about they're heritage, The Abruzzen a region in southern central of Italy. Not to mention, the beautiful styling & photography. Altogether this book is a great addition to improve my cooking skills. And this afternoon, I already made the polpette al sugo - meatballs with tomato sauce. Very good!
