Travel - The South Of France

So after a long time we decided to hit the road and travel to the South of France. From where we live it's about 1500 km to our 2 weeks stay, Cannes. We did it in two stages. First stop was in Dijon and we stayed in the friendly Holiday Inn. From here we travelled to St. Maxime where we spend the night in the Best Western Hotel. The hotel was located in a street called Avenue Mont Fleuri. Lovely! After she showed us the room, we checked in and decided to walk through the city and for something to eat.

The views, old shutters and pretty balconies.
Apparently all the restaurants served dinner at 7 o'clock in the evening! so we had to wait for almost 3 hours. I can't remember the restaurant where we dined, because it wasn't all that! so back to the hotel for a goodnight sleep to get up early for our last ride to our final destination. A little side note: restaurants in our country are open at 5 or 6 o'clock and cafe's/bistro's where they serve a good meal starting in the early afternoon. Anyway we have to respect there are other rules when we travel abroad, right! But when it come's to pittoresk and pretty views and of course the beautiful mediterranean weather, St. Maxime is a lovely place to visit for a few days. Let's move on!

When we arrived in Cannes, we knew what the city would look like and what they had to offer because we travelled to this area for many years. We rented an apartment and we had a beautiful sea view from our balcony ( I will show this in a next blog post). The last time that we were here was in 2008 and our location was always in Biot, on a lovely little camping nearby Antibes. After a few days of re-exploring (also more on that in a next post) we decided to visit the old town of Cannes, Le Suquet. Oh my I was pleasant surprised by the look! Historical and the colours of the buildings, pastel hues and mysterious alleys, little cafes and restaurants. We love it! and it's definitely worth to visit. It's the opposite of the glamour in Cannes.

More about our little travel to the South of France will be in a next post!
